Places London Once a thriving city, London is mostly empty now, and starting to decay. Due to a lack of resources, only the areas that is technically known as Westminster remains a viable and thriving area. This area encompasses Diagon Alley, the former location of the Ministry of Magic, as well as the former governmental headquarters for Muggle Britain. Voldemort and his regime have taken over Buckingham Palace, the Palace of Westminster, and Downing Street. Outside of Westminster, London has taken a decidedly darker turn. While most witches and wizards have either fled London, or moved into Westminster, many areas of London have turned into almost warzones, with gangs of muggleborns and other outsiders controlling the areas. Hitwizard raids into these slums are frequent. The current population of London is 12,000 Locations in London Mulctber Magical Teaching Hospital - After St Mungo's was deemed too risky to keep open, the former St James Palace was converted to a teaching hospital. Considered the best in magical care, Mulciber treats only pure and halfbloods. Diagon Alley - Diagon Alley is still a thriving business district, though it is more heavily patrolled and trade is more restricted. Still, anything a witch or wizard could need magically is still found here, as well as shops on the surrounding streets. Muggleborn Flats - a former set of council flats, now home to the roughly 500 muggleborn slaves who work for the government, including mantience crews, hospital orderlies, and other unskilled jobs in London. The flats are generally 2 or 3 bed flats with 4 or 6 people living in them. Each flat is segragated by gender. There is a small clinic for muggleborn workers. Hogsmeade Once a small wizarding village, Hogsmeade has grown significantly since the end of the war. Now with a population of nearly 8,000 in the town and surrounding areas, it is the largest wizarding town outside of London. Almost anything that a witch or wizard could need can be found in the shops in town. Hogsmeade has a small hospital and clinic. Hogwarts School is still in session. Attendance to Hogwarts is now mandatory, though only pureblood and halfblood students may attend past fifth year. The houses have been renamed in honor of the "War Heroes" as Lestrange (Ravenclaw), Carrow (Hufflepuff), Malfoy (Slytherin) and Avery (Gryffindor.) Godric's Hollow The third largest Wizarding village, Godric's Hollow is the center of agriculture in Erised. Surrounded by farms and greenhouses, most families who live here either control farmland or work the farms. The area is heavily patrolled due to several muggleborn uprisings on the farms in recent years. Godric's Hollow has several shops in town for basics. The Farms The farms spread across most of the island, and grow both magical and muggle crops. Owned by the upper class and worked mostly by either muggleborn slaves or unskilled halfbloods, they are not the most pleasant places. Slaves live on the farm, while most of the other help lives nearby. Most farms have a foreman and 10-30 workers (More on livestock farms than crop farms.) Laws Muggleborn Registration Act - All muggleborns must register with the Ministry of Magic and wear the unbreakable tracking bracelet that shows where the muggleborn lives, who he or she belongs to, and what areas they are permitted to travel in. Any muggleborn found unregistered will be forcible registered and relocated. Violations of movement privileges will be harshly punished. Removal of the registration bracelet is punished by death. Blood Traitor Punishment Acts - These acts spell out the punishment for working against the government, including having your rights to own a business, own land, keep custody of your children, or in extreme cases your blood status revoked. Children of known blood traitors will be removed and placed with more appropriate families to ensure the children are raised with proper values. Regional Government and Ruling Class Act - This act sets up the ruling class and government. Erised is divided into 8 zones, each ruled by a Death Eater governor. Other high ranking Death Eaters are privildged to work in the upper tiers of the government. Only those who have been marked as Death Eaters or their family are considered the "Ruling Class" and have the freedom open businesses, move residences, get married, have unrestricted vaults and own property without prior authorization of the government Marriage Approval and Restrictions Act - This act requires all marriages to be approved by the government, unless one member is of the ruling class. It also restricts blood mixing by only allowing muggleborns to marry other muggleborns. The act requires all non-muggleborns to be married by the age of 25. |
